Mudeford Sailing Club

Changes to Club Administration

At the Committee meeting on 7 December we made some important changes in the way we run the Club.

1. Safety Cover.  In order to improve the quality of our safety cover on Series racing, an additional crew for Top Cat will be nominated from the sailing membership, on the same lines as the OOD list. We anticipate that this will be a stand-by duty, only being required if the wind is forecast to be F3 or more, or if one of the regular safety crews is not available. A safety duty will earn average points.

2. Buoy 6 will reduce to 3 issues:

    · Early March, to catch all the new season’s developments and plans.

    · Early July, specifically for Mudeford Week.

    · Early November, for the Dinner Dance and membership renewal forms.

The Calendar will be printed in December as usual and will include OOD and Safety rosters. It may change format slightly.

3. Paying for Racing.  The biggest change is that payment for racing will no longer be taken on the day but will be consolidated into an annual bill, for which sailors will be invoiced in November, following the season’s racing. It will include other payments such as Club boat hire and trophy engraving if this is carried out with the sailor’s agreement, on their behalf..

The system will start with immediate effect. Every race will be recorded (as is done at present) and each sailor’s races consolidated into a single record. Every race that earns points (ie all races finished, as well as RTD, DNF and DSQ) will merit payment. Only when a sailor does not enter a race (DNE) will they not pay.

Invoices will be issued at the end of the season (usually the last Sunday in October) for payment in November.

The rate of £1 per race remains in force until the 2010 AGM.

Race payments may be made in advance to the Treasurer, but there will be no payment on the day, except for sailors from other Clubs, sailing as paying guests.
