A new sail for the laser?

Rumours of a new full-rig sail for the Laser have been rife for years. After all, the Radial is in it’s 6th evolution and everyone knows that the full rig is a good sail when brand new, but it very quickly becomes a rag when you sail it in strong winds. For an item that costs £400 or more in UK, this is not quite good enough.  (But compare it with a Finn or Solo sail if you want a fright)

A number of options have been tried, and Max Holloway has played with some of the prototypes.  But it’s a really tricky design brief: about the same PN as the existing sail, the same agricultural mast and boom, much more durability and yet the same feel and shape-changing ability.

Oh, and don’t expect to see anything on the market until after the Olympics!
